Prepare. Connect. Lead.
“We strive to be the nation’s best return on investment in legal education – providing a world-class, hands-on, purpose-driven educational experience with a pioneering commitment to affordability and accessibility.”
Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge
Dean & Talmadge Chair of Law
The University of Georgia School of Law is routinely recognized as one of the nation’s leading law schools.
Interaction with distinguished faculty and talented peers in an outstanding educational environment ensures that the legal education received at the School of Law is second to none.
While some law schools choose to emphasize either faculty scholarship or student instruction, our faculty seeks to balance the two, firmly believing that scholarly expertise enhances the academic experience.
With 17 unique clinical and experiential learning programs in a wide range of practice areas, our students hone essential legal abilities through hands-on service learning.
The School of Law is proud to offer a unique mentorship program to match all of our students with a four-person mentorship team to provide the guidance and support they need during their three years here, and beyond.
Our students can join one of the 40 student organizations on campus ranging from the First Generation Student Association to the Davenport-Benham Black Law Students Association, to the UGA OUTLaws.
First Generation and Military Students
First-generation college graduates at the law school have access to our First Start Coordinator to act as a guide. We also offer scholarships targeted to Veterans, and provide access to the UGA Student Veterans Resource Center.
“I most enjoy the sense of collaboration and genuine enthusiasm for learning that flows throughout the community. I am constantly impressed by my colleagues’ research and clinical contributions to different corners of the law, and am energized by the level of student and faculty engagement both inside the classroom and beyond.”
– Lindsey Simon, Associate Professor of Law

Life in Athens, GA: The Classic City
The Classic City combines southern charm, great weather and SEC sports with a progressive atmosphere and a rich art, music and intellectual culture.
“Two things led to my decision to attend: 1) Community and 2) Return on Investment. UGA Law has given me the financial flexibility I needed to be able to determine what work drives me and to pursue opportunities like judicial clerkships.”
– Kirstiana Perryman, J.J. ‘22
